Heroes of the Week: Nashville Police Officers

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, our Hero story hits awfully close to home. Six police officers ran towards danger on Christmas morning in downtown Nashville. They helped evacuate residents before a large explosion devastated much of that area. The officers were Brenna Hosey, James Luellen, Michael Sipos, Amanda Topping, James Wells, and Sergeant Timothy Miller.

Nashville police and fire crews had responded to reports of shots fired in the area just off Lower Broadway in the entertainment section of Nashville. It happens to be just a few blocks away from our studio. Police noticed a suspicious RV parked outside a building just before 6 a.m. Officers and witnesses heard a recording from the RV giving a warning to “Evacuate now. A bomb is in this vehicle and it will explode” – that’s when the six officers began running through adjacent buildings knocking on doors to remove anybody that was near the RV.

Officers Hosey, Luellen, Sipos, Topping, Wells, and Sergeant Miller, we salute you as this week’s ACC Heroes!
