The Song Remembers When: Jason Aldean – “You Make It Easy”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2018, Jason Aldean would score his 18th career number one with “You Make It Easy.” The song was written by Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, along with Morgan Wallen and Jordan Schmidt. And, the song served as the lead single from Jason’s Rearview Town album.

The idea for “You Make It Easy” came from Tyler. He was thinking about how hard it must be for his wife Hayley to manage the house, the kids, and the dogs while he was out on the road touring. He thought that she made his life easier. The guys knew they had to write it.

Brian and Tyler weren’t sure if they’d record it or give it away to another artist. But, Tyler had met up with Jason and the two were driving around in his truck when he played him the newly written song. Jason stopped the track halfway through and asked if he could have it.

Jason says that he didn’t typically cut “love type songs” but this one felt different. He added that maybe his relationship with his wife Brittany made him look at this kind of song differently. He felt that it described his feelings about his own marriage.

It’s this week’s The Song Remembers When… Here’s Jason Aldean with his two-week number one “You Make It Easy.”
