The Song Remembers When: Florida Georgia Line – “Confession”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

At the CMA Awards in 2015, Florida Georgia Line took the stage to perform their song “Confession.” It was written by Rodney Clawson, Ross Copperman, and Matt Jenkins. Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley said that they were drawn to the song as soon as they heard the demo. Brian admitted he was instantly curious just by the title.

The duo had been known for their party songs and had been in search for deeper, more meaningful songs and this one hit home. Tyler said that at that point in their career, the success, the non-stop journey was a wild time and this song reminded them to slow down and be thankful for their blessings.

When they recorded it, the duo did between 75 to 100 takes because for them, it’s one thing to sing a song but another to believe what you’re singing and get that to translate to you fans out there.

It became a number one hit in May 2016 and has since been certified platinum!
