The Song Remembers When: Jordan Davis – “Singles You Up”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Jordan Davis earned his first number one hit with “Singles You Up” in April 2018. The song was the first single released from Jordan’s debut album Home State. It was written by Jordan, Justin Ebach, and Steven Dale Jones and was inspired by Justin’s engagement.

Justin walked into the writing session just after getting engaged. The phrase – “You were smart enough not to single her up” – came to their minds and they knew what they had to write. They turned the phrase around a bit, making it about a guy falling for a girl who is already taken, hoping that one day she becomes available.

Justin said that all three of them had that experience at one time or another in their lives, hoping the girl they were interested in becomes single. They knew that if the three of them had stories like that, surely others would be able to relate. Well, fans did because the song ended up at the top of the chart and served as a successful introduction for Jordan as he launched his career as an artist.
