In March 2019, Thomas Rhett released “Look What God Gave Her.” During the following month, he performed the song on the ACM Awards. And, just 18 weeks later, the song would become a number one hit.
“Look What God Gave Her” was written by TR’s dad Rhett Akins along with Julian Bunetta, Josh Ryan, Jacob Kasher, and Ammar Malik. Rhett sent the song to Thomas who was on the road touring, and although he liked it, Thomas felt there were a few things that needed to be tweaked. So, he changed up some of the lyrics and added a bridge. After that, it felt just right to him.
Thomas loved the idea that he could thank God for giving his wife Lauren all these amazing qualities that made her the perfect person for him. In fact, Lauren is featured in the video, along with two of their children – Willa Gray and Ada James.
“Look What God Gave Her” was the first single released from Thomas’ Center Point Road album and it became his thirteenth chart-topping hit in June 2019.
