Hero of the Week: Ryan Pasborg

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Thank you to one of our listeners Mary Herden for sending in this story about a hero in Wyoming:

Ryan Pasborg was running late for work. He was heading down the highway when he smelled smoke and saw a house on fire. He immediately headed towards the house. As Ryan pulled up, he spotted three little kids run out the front door. They told him that their mother and little brother were still inside. The windchill was below zero, so he told the kids to wait in his truck.

Ryan ran into the home, but he couldn’t see because the smoke was so thick. So, he dropped to the ground and crawled along the floor. Ryan bumped into the four-year-old boy. He grabbed him and took him outside. Then, Ryan ran back into the home where he found the mother on the kitchen floor. She was badly burned and not breathing. He carried her outside where he began CPR. Thankfully, Ryan was able to get her breathing again and carried her into the truck where the kids were waiting. When the paramedics arrived, they took the family to the hospital.

The local deputy said that he’s never seen such bravery from a good Samaritan. In fact, Ryan was more than that. He saved the lives of the mother and the little boy. According to the deputy, Ryan bought the family new clothes and other necessities and delivered those to their grandmother’s home.
