The Song Remembers When: Michael Ray – “Think A Little Less”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2016, Michael Ray released the third single from his self-titled debut album. The song, “Think A Little Less,” featured Thomas Rhett as a co-writer alongside Barry Dean, Jon Nite, and Jimmy Robbins.

When Michael was pitched the song, he heard Thomas’ voice on the demo. He immediately wondered why he was being pitch the song since Thomas was probably going to record it. But, it turned out that he had already wrapped up production on his album, so the song was available.

With that squared away, Michael wanted the song and felt it would become a fan favorite. He said that during his shows, as soon as his guitar player starts the song, fans go crazy!

After “Think A Little Less” was released in the spring of 2016, it climbed for 47 weeks and ultimately landed just shy of the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
