While on tour, Matthew Ramsey of Old Dominion reached into his pocket one morning and realized he’d forgotten to give back his hotel key. That moment inspired a song idea and he brought it to his writing session with fellow band member Trevor Rosen and songwriter Josh Osborne. When he heard the idea, Trevor admitted that his wife actually saves their hotel keys as mementos of their trips together, so he was all in.
Some may say it’s a hook-up song, but Matthew says it’s more than that. He points to the line, “We danced by the TV we never turned on.” He feels that gave the song a more romantic feel.
The band released it in March 2018, and 33 weeks later, in September, the guys would score a two-week number one!
