Hero of the Week: Patron, the Jack Russell Terrier

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

As the war continues in Ukraine, one hero is getting quite a bit of attention from around the world – a Jack Russell terrier named Patron.

Two-year-old Patron works with State Emergency Service Rescuers where he sniffs out Russian bombs. There are a lot of videos being shared online that show him hard at work in his protective vest with his nose to the ground. Since the start of the Russian invasion, Patron has helped neutralize nearly 90 explosive devices. And, Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications sang his praises in a recent tweet: “One day, Patron’s story will be turned into a film, but for now he’s performing his professional duties.”

When he’s not busy with saving lives, Patron is just a typical dog who enjoys sitting on laps, playing ball, and generally being a good boy.
