In 2017, Luke Combs had the title “Beer Never Broke My Heart” saved in his cellphone. While he was on the road, Luke’s writing buddies Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton came out and they started writing a song around that title.
During the write, Luke had to go to soundcheck, but when he came back, they had half of the song finished. Luke loved where it was headed. When the group returned to Nashville, they got back together to finish it up.
Like Luke’s previous hits, this one was about a past relationship, but even more than that, it was a song that would list all the things wrong in someone’s life like a largemouth bass busting your line, your truck breaking down, losing your dog, lying politicians, being fired by the boss… But the one thing that you can always count on is beer!
Luke released the song in May 2019, and, by August, he would have a two-week number one!
