The Song Remembers When: Jason Aldean – “Blame It On You”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Blame It On You”
Songwriters: Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, Michael Tyler, Brian Gene White, and John Edwards
Album: 9

In July 2021, Jason Aldean scored his 23rd number one with “Blame It On You.” The song was written by five writers including Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, two members of Jason’s band. It’s a “tears in beer” kind of story that finds the guy bellied up to the bar admitting that he has no one else to blame but himself for the ending of a relationship.

“Blame It On You” can be found on Jason’s album titled 9. He said the project had more than its share of drinking songs, but he couldn’t turn any of them down because it was best song wins and they happen to be the best.
