The Song Remembers When: Parker McCollum – “Pretty Heart”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Pretty Heart”
Songwriters: Parker McCollum and Randy Montana
Album: Gold Chain Cowboy

Parker McCollum made a big name for himself in the Texas market after the release of his independent debut album The Limestone Kid in 2015. Five years later, when Parker released his major label debut single “Pretty Heart,” he went national!

Prior to its release, Parker hadn’t done much co-writing but his manager, who at that time was Randy Rogers of the Randy Rogers Band, pushed him to come to Nashville and give it a try. So, Parker agreed and decided to scroll back through his Instagram posts for song ideas. He found himself singing the line, “What does that say about me.”  He loved the melody and brought it to his writing session with Randy Montana.

Well, despite his lack of experience co-writing, things worked out pretty well for Parker! “Pretty Heart” went on to become his first number one hit in December 2020.
