In September 2019, HARDY released “One Beer.” He’d already made a name for himself as the go-to songwriter on Music Row as a writer on a lot of hits including Florida Georgia Line’s “Simple” and Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country,” a song that would go on to win Single of the Year at both the CMA Awards and ACM Awards.
In fact, one of his co-writers on “God’s Country” is Devin Dawson, an artist in his own right and one that was top of mind when it came to including an additional male voice on “One Beer.” HARDY had the idea that he’d have both a male and female artist sing with him to portray the couple he was singing about. So, he asked Lauren Alaina to provide the female voice.
The story tells how one beer led to an out-of-wedlock pregnancy followed by a shotgun wedding. But, in the end, the twist is that the plans led to the ultimate blessing of a family.
In December 2020, it became HARDY and Devin’s first number one as artists and Lauren’s third chart-topper.
