Hero of the Week: Kathryn Alonso

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Operation Homefront is an organization that honors the children of our military. We’d like to shine the spotlight on a recent honoree 17-year-old Kathryn Alonso.

Kathryn, whose father serves in the Coast Guard, is known throughout the community for her giving spirit. And, even though she’s young, Kathryn has already built up quite a resume of philanthropic work. She coaches and volunteers for the Special Olympics. She’s held a food and clothing drive for Afghan refugees. And, through the organization No Place for Hate, Kathryn has promoted inclusion and a non-judgmental school environment. These are just a few of her accomplishments.

It’s easy to see why she was honored as Operation Homefront’s Coast Guard Military Child of the Year!

Kix’s Response:

We, too, would like to honor her by naming Kathryn as this week’s ACC Hero. We’d also like to thank her father for his service to our country.
