The Song Remembers When: Jordan Davis – “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot”
Songwriters: Jordan Davis and Lonnie Fowler
Album: Home State

Co-writing is great because you can hear a story that inspires an idea, a story that’s personal to that other writer. In Louisiana, it’s like gumbo – everybody stirs that pot and hopefully something great comes out. That’s exactly what happened when Jordan Davis sat down with songwriter Lonnie Fowler.

Lonnie told Jordan about a date. They went to the movies, but when they were driving home in the car, a song by Garth Brooks came on. It inspired Lonnie to pull over in a parking lot where he asked the girl to dance. After hearing the story, Jordan immediately thought, “Now that is a song that we have to write.”

“Slow Dance In A Parking Lot” landed on Jordan’s debut album and became Jordan’s second career number one. And, by the way, his co-writer Lonnie wound up marrying that girl!
