In 2016, Blake Shelton released “Came Here To Forget” as the first single from his album If I’m Honest. Blake didn’t write it but said it mirrored his life at the time. Blake and wife Miranda Lambert had broken up. Later, he found love with Gwen Stefani who he went on to marry in July 2021.
Songwriting giants Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan wrote “Came Here To Forget.” Although the song was sad, it moved quickly to the next chapter of life – the bright spot of meeting someone is that it helps you forget the heartache.
After it was released in March 2016, it climbed the chart for 15 weeks and delivered Blake his 22nd number one hit that June.
