The Song Remembers When: Kenny Chesney – “Come Over”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Come Over”
Songwriters: Sam Hunt, Shane McAnally, and Josh Osborne
Album: Welcome to the Fishbowl

In 2012, Kenny Chesney released “Come Over,” a song which he has said is a “classy booty call.” Kenny felt the song was about two people as broken emotionally as their relationship. Instead of walking away, they kept coming back together because it’s familiar. They can’t seem to sever that emotional and physical bond just yet.

“Come Over” was written by Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Sam Hunt. Sam is the one who came up with the phrasing on the verse. He helped write “Come Over” on his first guitar, the one he got just out of high school and learned to play by practicing a Kenny Chesney song.

The song would take 11 weeks to climb to the top of the ACC Chart where it stayed for two weeks.
