The Song Remembers When: Jackson Dean – “Don’t Come Lookin’”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Don’t Come Lookin’”
Songwriters: Jackson Dean and Luke Dick
Album: Greenbroke

Jackson Dean’s debut single was released in February 2022. “Don’t Come Lookin’” was a song inspired by a conversation Jackson had with his mother. Ever since he was young, he had a free spirit. Jackson would run off into the woods and tell her not to come lookin’! And, she’d yell back, “Stay alive!” He said it was their thing.

Once he turned 18, Jackson had a desire to travel and get out on his own. He didn’t want anyone to get in the way. Eventually, Jackson landed in Nashville, where he got the chance to write with Luke Dick, the songwriter behind hits for the likes of Miranda Lambert and Eric Church. Together, Luke and Jackson wrote “Don’t Come Lookin’.”

The song ended up being featured on the popular TV series Yellowstone and lead the way for Jackson’s debut album, Greenbroke. And, in December 2022, “Don’t Come Lookin’” landed inside the Top 5, at number three, becoming Jackson’s first hit song.
