The Song Remembers When: Jason Aldean – “Lights Come On”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Lights Come On”
Songwriters: Brian Kelley, Tyler Hubbard, Jordan Schmidt, Jimmy Robbins, Brad Warren, and Brett Warren
Album: They Don’t Know

In 2016, Jason Aldean released “Lights Come On” as the lead single from his album They Don’t Know. Six songwriters, including Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line, teamed up to pen this song. In fact, the session was all about writing a “opening song” for FGL, but it was Brian who said, “Man, this sounds like Jason Aldean.”

After hearing it, Jason said the song is all about his job. When the lights come on, it’s time for him to go to work and entertain all the folks who spent their hard-earned money to come and see him.  He wants to make sure he reaches every single person in the venue. He wants folks to forget about whatever it is they’ve got going on in their lives and let loose for a while. That message was taken a step further in the music video by taking fans behind the scenes of Jason’s Six String Circus Tour.

Jason performed “Lights Come On” during the 2016 ACM Awards. And, later that July, it hit the top of the chart.
