The Song Remembers When: Miranda Lambert – “Bluebird”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Bluebird”
Songwriters: Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and Natalie Hemby
Album: Wildcard

In 2021, Miranda Lambert won a Grammy for Wildcard. The project was named Best Country Album and included “Bluebird,” which she performed on the awards show. The song itself was nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance that night as well.

Miranda wrote it with songwriters Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby. Luke had come up with the idea from a poem. He sent it to Miranda, and she immediately told him she wanted to write it.

Miranda describes “Bluebird” as being a little dark but also very hopeful. Life’s gonna give you lemons, but it will get better! She adds that without having those bad days, we wouldn’t appreciate the good days.

“Bluebird” made its way to the top of the chart in August 2020. It was the first solo chart-topping hit for Miranda since “Over You” peaked at number one in 2012. Additionally, the video for the song took home honors for Video of the Year at the CMA Awards in 2020.
