In June 2022, Parmalee found their way to the top of the ACC Chart for two weeks “Take My Name.” It was the second chart-topping single from the band’s For You album. Lead singer Matt Thomas wrote the song with Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, and David Fanning.
The inspiration came from watching his own brother Scott, who is the band’s drummer, get married. It made him take stock in his own life and think about what he’d want to say to his future wife.
Parmalee initially placed the song on TikTok where it blew up. Fans started asking for the whole song so they could use it at their own weddings. In fact, “Take My Name” was so popular that it became Billboard’s Top Song of 2022.
